Three More Lives Saved Due to Red Cross Training


Husband Saves Wife using CPR- Luke Benrud is so thankful that he had the chance to learn CPR through the Red Cross. He saved his wife’s life just five weeks after she gave birth to their only child. The training was held at the American Red Cross of Northeast Wisconsin, Appleton, WI, and was led by Instructors Mike Wurzer and Sharon Holt. Twinsburg High School Junior Honored for Role in Saving Coach The following was received from Brandon Burns, Aquatics and Café Manager, City of Twinsburg, OH: “Below is a link to an article highlighting one of our 17yr old lifeguards who helped provide care, administer an AED shock, and resuscitate him. This is a direct result of the American Red Cross lifeguarding program, the Aquatic Examiner Service (AES), and the AED purchasing program. The lifeguard and asst. manager were Red Cross lifeguards who have both been audited with the AES program and the AED that was used including the 17 others the city has were purchased from Rebecca Fischer through your AED purchasing program. I can’t stress how important you all are to helping ensure our residents stay safe. Thank you all, a success story for the books! Special shout outs to the staff involved with the save including Sara Gildea, Aquatics Examiner, Mike Eder and Gretchen Burdekin: Examiner Supervisors, and Sales Specialist Rebecca Fischer.”

Heart Attack Victim united with Red Cross Volunteer who performed CPR At the Western and Central NY staff meeting on February 20, Red Cross staff reunited a man who had a heart attack and went into cardiac arrest with the Red Cross volunteer who performed CPR on him and saved his life. The story was picked up by a Rochester, NY news station.
